Cleaning Your Telescope (Reflector Telescopes) - My Telescope Series

http://bit.ly/2J4GdhW My Telescope Series: Cleaning Your Telescope (Reflector Telescopes) Directed and Produced by Tommy DeJosia Cleaning your telescope should only be done if absolutely necessary. If you are unsure on how to clean your telescope, please contact customer service via email or phone. If you need to clean your reflector telescope or the eyepieces, DON’T clean or touch any of the internal mirrors. It will damage the mirror coating. We do not recommend cleaning or touching the mirrors in ANY way. DON’T use abrasive cleaners or take your telescope apart to clean it. You should… Start by taking the dust off the eyepieces. Do not use this cleaning method on your mirrors. Simply use a soft lens brush or pressurized air to gently remove dust. If the eyepiece lens still has oil or fingerprints on it, take a microfiber cloth and wipe the lens. If the stains won’t come off, put some lenses cleaning fluid onto a soft tissue and gently wipe the lenses. Then dry the lenses immediately afterwards. DO NOT use this method on your objective or diagonal mirror. This can damage the reflective coating. If moisture or dew collects on the internal mirror of your telescope, remove all of the accessories. For example: the eyepieces and the lens caps. Place the telescope in a dry, dust free environment with the open end pointed downwards. http://bit.ly/2HLDmaH CarsonOptical May 22, 2019 at 10:43PM
